In an earlier post, I mentioned how some self-described “servant of God” challenged me to come to Corunna Michigan to debate whether the Bible is reliable. After three weeks, he finally got back to me. Yet he still said he’s having trouble finding an atheist willing to debate. Then he said: “I have seen you on You Tube destroy many denominational false Christians. But I have never seen you debate a real Christian”.
So I had to ask, “
Just for my own personal amusement, what are the minimum criteria required to qualify as a “true” Christian?” This was his explanation:
True Christian is a Person who Loves God more then their own lives, and honestly stand on what the bible teaches them. for example most denomination today teach all you have to do is believe and you are saved. and they explain away anything that the bible teaches, goes against their man made creed. There was an atheist who debated a Baptist preacher and asked him what he must do to be saved. to which the Baptist preacher says just believe, and the Atheist quoted Acts 2:38 and asked the preacher if that is what Peter told the Jews to do to become Christians, to which the Preacher said let me explain. as he explained away the meaning of that verse, The Atheist said you do not even believe your own bible. He was right, For to believe in Jesus means to believe in his doctrine and obey it. But most people who call themselves Christians are bible ignorant, and do not know enough about the bible to pass an elementary quiz. Their preachers are so afraid of true Christian Preachers they will not debate them. Ken Hovind was challenged by myself to debate me on how does one become a Christian and he was such a coward he said no. That was just a couple of weeks after he got out of prison. The Baptist preacher down the road will not even study the bible with me. JW’s marked my house, and I could go on and on. the reason why is I am solid, meaning I rightly divide the word of God 2 Tim 2:15,
Now Galatians 1:8-9,¶ I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
most people who considers themselves Christians today, teach it does not matter what you believe as long as you believe in Jesus.
But as you can clearly see the bible teaches something totally different. try these verses on people you come into contact with, and see what they say. No most people who claim to be Christians are not.”
So there you have it. If Christianity is not your most all-consuming obsession, more important to you than life itself, and you don’t believe everything the Bible says verbatim, even the parts that contradict the other parts, then you’re not a real Christian. I can’t wait to show this to a few of my friends and family–just to let them know they’re not really Christians; they’re only faking it.
Of course the criteria is still as vague as a horoscope or a fortune cookie–so that most believers will still say they qualify. Once I press him, I’m sure I could even get this “Servant of God” to admit to interpretations of “prophetic language” where some of the Bible is literal and some is metaphorical, some of it has two completely different and contradictory meanings at once, and you’ll have to “let the spirit guide you” to decide which is which and when. Because believers pick-and-choose which parts are convenient to believe and which parts to ignore or dismiss on whatever excuse they can make up. They’ll say “when it says this, it really means that”, redefining and misdirecting every implication as necessary. Instead of “love thy neighbor”, or “pride goeth before a fall”, and “judge not lest ye be judged”, it’s hate the gays and always pretend to be holier than thou. Instead of feeding the hungry and preaching peace, it’s about hording guns, threatening other positions with violence, and defunding any form of welfare. They all believe things the Bible doesn’t say and plug their ears when I try to show them what it really does say. They’re certainly not going to hate their families and give up all their worldly possessions the way Jesus said they’d have to. Instead they’ll be like the hypocrites and pray openly where people can see them, because they want to be rich–regardless what Jesus said against that too. There’s never been even one Christian who obeyed “every jot and tittle” of all 613 Mosaic laws the way Jesus commanded either. If they can get out of it, they won’t even pay their taxes like Jesus said to do. Instead Christians will work their own personally preferred interpretations into the Bible, reading between the lines and often ignoring the lines to believe whatever they want to believe regardless what it actually says. That’s what being a real Christian truly seems to be.
