Think twice before sharing about the Electoral College voting against their State’s vote

Yes. A Donald Trump presidency is terrible even terrifying.

Still having a tough time saying President Trump.
Still having a tough time saying President Trump.

However, the reasoning in having the Electoral College throw out their state’s various votes is not just flawed but dangerous.

There is technically nothing stopping any of the electors from refusing to support the candidate to whom they were bound, or from abstaining from voting altogether.

There’s even a name for it: Becoming a “faithless elector.”

There’s even a petition that 600,000 people have signed.

Let’s set aside the rule of law for a second even though in many states it is illegal for an elector to throw out their state’s vote. Are “faithless electors” always going to be voting against their state’s vote for reasons like having Donald Trump as president? Let’s say a Tea Party elector in a state wants to throw out their state’s vote for someone like a Barack Hussein Obama in the future. What then?

Throwing out Trump’s vote by state electors would establish a dangerous precedent that would disrupt peaceful transfers of power.
